A few reports of em south of OI, way south, not real sure of what water temps they like but that SSW wind last week had the ocean front temps in the 60's, and mid to low 70's 10 miles out while I was at Nags Head. Still lookin!!!

LOTS of em being caught off the beaches and inlets of Wrightsville and Carolina Beaches. Live menhaden has been the ticket. Bait is thick there. Was throwing a 6' cast net from the beach and catching 50-100 6"-10" baits on each throw. Not sure what the water temps were but but warm enough not to get the shock factor from walking in. The kings should be making their way up if not already.

Before folks get TOO discouraged, remember this is an EL NINO year. While upper west coast have had record breaking 100* weather, we have been getting rain after rain and cooler than normal. This will have the great advantage of holding tropical storm developement down, but will also keep our water temps down. You may recall last year when the lads at Sandbridge Pier had a spate of TARPON catches, not to mention some good kings. That was in July. This year our inshore temps are not getting very high, which is usually caused by water inversion, a result of westerly wind and a side effect of EL NINO. Ah,well. Temps can be monitored by Googling "ARMY DUCK PIER". Once you get away from the big influence of the bay, thats info you need to check for all inshore trips.

We need a few days of a S.E. blow to clean the water up.The water has been ugly all Summer except for a week or so earlier this summer.Look out for that clear blue water if it pushes in to the beach the Kings and a few Tarpon will be in it.

I guess thats the only thing the Obama admin. has got working since the election. Sat at the barber shop this morning asking if they got a $2.00 gov. plan to help me out on my hair cut, brought in a pic of a bad hair cut, figured that might stimulate the local economy... sorry off topic.... its cool out side in August!!!
