Had a 3 person charter yesterday and they wanted to be there own mates. That's a program we run once in awhile for people who have their own boats. Kind of like an instructional deal in which we show them almost everything. The group included Dave, Kyle and Kyle's pregnant fiance Shanna. I still carry a mate just in case things get crazy like they ended up getting.

We left the dock at 5:15 AM and headed to the 230 line outside the "Hot Dog" I figured I'd throw them right into the fire on the large schools of false albacore we have here right now. Like clock work, they were there. We started out with 6 rods and instantly got covered up. Catch 30 in under an hour and start working offshore.

Get about 3 miles out and find some lumber and catch 7 or 8 dolphin on light tackle. (tip: save a few albacore for bailing dolphin, it is the absolute "mahi crack") While we were bailing the dolphin, a wahoo came in and mashed up our live decoy dolphin we had on a spinning rod sitting in the rod holder (see picture).

Start trolling again and catch a 37# wahoo and few more dolphin. Over the next 2 hours, we get cut off by the hoos 4 times and pull the hook on a white on "wire".

Finish the day up with 17# bull and a just legal yellowfin.

The wahoo bite was crazy between 30-40 fathoms. I'm sure I heard over 100 bites on the radio. The crew on the osprey caught a 103# er. That thing was huge, a have a picture on our website of the carcass in a 55 gallon drum. What an awesome fish.
