Heading to Pirates Cove the 3rd of Oct. for a week of fishing. Fishing from 23' may not give us many shots at going offshore to hit the tuna bite that seems to be steady, if the weather allows we'll go til out of gas$$. If not how far south to get into the Kings, should we trailer to Hatteras to go for them or just head south out of OI (Platt Shoals Slough, AR-160 etc.)? Not many reports here and other forums reports are way south MHC. We will be down with 3 23' boats and may look into a charter if the wind doesn't let us out. Thanks Todd

You can do it in a 23' out of OI if you pic your days... Saw two 23's out there yesterday... Its 40 miles plus to the tuna bite out of OI.... I would say trailer down to HI if you want a shorter run.... Wahoo bites have been good.. Ajacks, and bottom critters... Maybe even Jig a Blackfin Tuna at the rock pile... Good luck!

Kings are usually later in the season around Oct & Nov. I would go looking around the diamond shoals and reefs off of OI and even the towers in 15 to 25 fathoms.
