after seeing the weekend forecast for this week, wade & I decided to get a crew together for a mid -week try offshore.
wednesday we crewed up with Eddie, Cody, Tim, Wade & myself. Headed off to the canyon with hopes for some tunas...or what ever will bite!! Tim & his son Cory don't get to go too often, so really wated to send them home with some meat. After messing around for a while getting a few dolphin & fat alberts, decide to make a move. the marlin bite was off the hook, but we stayed south of those guys hoping for the meatfish. around 12:00 we are close to the wreckfish hole & decided to make a couple o drops & see if we could get a couple. tim's bait must have hit the fish right in the head, not 15 seconds after he hits bottom, fish on!!!! Cody also hooks up but does not stay hooked. Tim gets his first wreckfish!!! make another drift, cody also gets his wreckfish.....he has lived in florida, so came ready for the fight....it's the loooooooooong way up that was a killer!!
Edde & I drop on the next drift, he hooks up & shortly after, I do too. Eddie gets his first wreckfish......(he kept it in the rod holder though 
he caught some flack over that one!!) I am cranking mine up, it just doesn't feel the same. It's fighting like crazy....more than normal. After a long fight all the way up, we see color....a lotof color......I have 2 wreckfish!!!!!!!! 
on 1 double rig. One is a beast, nearly straightened mt hook!!what a blast.....but, now we have 5 fish, so Wade has to take a back seat & sit this one out, we have out limit. It's late in the day so we get a few tilefish, but they are small, so we run in. what a hell of a day!!!!thursday:
we crewed up with Dan & headed out. not as productive, but still a good day with 7 dolphin, a couple of rosies...& oh yeah, we had a white (Ithink) crash out baits, hook up & jump off. we didn't get him, but daaaaam we were close this time!!!! we don't really set out for the mrlin, but when they come in, we are all about catching him!!!! we'll get one sooner or later.
All in all, I think it was a little better than working
One more week & we go back to deltaville for a couple of months to tie up some loose ends, I would love to get a tuna or 2!!
