Tues 10/20: Went out right after work on Tuesday (ok... well work wasn't officially over but the fishing itch was worse than a bad weekend in Tijuana so I had to roll). My fishing partner who left work earlier than me, due to a home emergency. Home Emergency = Try to get to Oceans East to pick up fiddlers crabs & some terminal tackle.
Started on the 1st island in what has become my favorite tog hole and picked up three or four tog; three keeper 19, 18, 16" and a throw back. Preparing to move to another spot we lifted the anchor chain, yep the anchor chain--minus the anchor. The bolt on the chock came loose last trip I guess after getting anchor stuck three times or so. Lesson Learned: Check the $2.99 chock and bolt to avoid paying $45 for a new anchor.
Moved up to the tip of the 1st island casting over the rocks and picked up a 23" striper and partner picked another one up a few minutes later. Later on we got into quite a few fish and took home 26", 23", two 20's and lots of 18"+ fish returned to swim another day.
10/21: After buying a new anchor and buying the last two dozen frozen fiddlers from Oceans East (sorry peejcj8 for buying the last of them) we headed out just after 8am. Went to my tog hole and caught 3 tog early and a few throw backs before running out of fiddlers. Tried sand flees and picked up one more. Lots of sea bass and a few oyster toads. Headed back in early to cook Tog Chowder and baked some fish. Oh yeah couldn't think of any good excuse to get out of going to work -- so I was just honest and said I needed to go fishing -- it worked.
