I catch plenty of keepers and i catch way to many small ones. I was just wanting to know if there are any prefered areas that hold large flounder. I would rather catch one citation then 20 small ones. I know its not the norm to give up info like this but i am new to the chesapeake bay boating scene. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Ahhh, one must put in time and effort to get paper, grasshopper tongue.gif. I will tell you this: the bigger the bait, the bigger the fish. A 5-7" bait (live bait) will keep the smaller ones off.

Don't worry, you'll catch the big one soon enough if you are finding keepers. Good luck and post up the big one when you get him.

Plenty of keepers between the 4th island and the high rise. I caught a citation in this area on Saturday. It was the only flounder that I caught all day. You will find them. biggrin.gif

Your best bet is the Cell. All of my friends except for me have citations this year and they were all caught at the cell. Some had three or four a day. Hint...Troll at 1.3 to 2.3 knots if your engine will go that low. Also green was the color of all the citations this year for my guys.

Cape Henry Wrecks using live spot...

I find that the biggest flounder are in the hardest to fish spots. I use the vertical jigging method over and into the nastiest structure around any of the islands. This takes great patience and a light , fast hand. You WILL get hung up numerous times but with a little practice and quick boat manuvering you can free your line most of the time. Personally I LOVE the challenge and you are allmost assured the reward of a NICE flounder. If this method becomes too much work, you can allways relax and drift for awhile in an alongside the deeper channels. Good luck and good fishing! I am around the third and fourth island EVERY SAT. that weather permits. If you see me, give me a wave and a holler! FISHTANK
