i just got a new reel, an AVET sx 5.0:1 and am not sure what rod to pair it with. i will most likely be using it for larger stripers, cobia, amberjack, ect. i am looking for a rod that won't be too stout for the reel, which has 15lb mono on it, but will be able to handle larger cobia (should i be lucky enough to hook into one) price range is under $150.
i was looking at shimano teramars in the 7'-7'6" range in a MH, H, or XH action.
i would go for st. croix, loomis, pretty much any decent rod manufacturer.
let me know what you would do in such a situation.
