been out to Gooses and the cliffs the past 3 sundays the Gooses caught our limit in about 3-4hrs.3 weeks ago.The power plant one small blue and and 2 small rocks.
ITS hard when your fishing party doesnt show untill late morning and you dont get to the water untill noon or later thats been the last 2 sundays those 2 times everything was on the small size.

I would say that early is good just try to time it so the tide is moving and bring
some chum. Chopatank is also a good spot early or at night for spot and croaker.

Gooses are a set of humps in the middle of the shipping channel where boats set up a chum slick with menhaden for blues and striper. The rips near the cliffs has a lot of breqaking fish recently.

Are you heading up from VA to catch rockfish? If yes, i wouldn't go as far as the cliffs. There should be plenty of blues and small rockfish being chummed up on an area called the line. Its the eastern edge of the cut channel between point lookout and point no point. I haven't been up there this summer, but if its anything like last year, you won't be able to miss the line of boats. I would say to be there early or late, you won't want to compete with the charter boats chum slicks. By the way, if you see breaking fish and catch blues on top, jig bottom for the striped ones.

well.... im not looking to go offshore just a place to relax and fish my usuall spot is point lookout which is 2 hours away from where I live

Im looking for someplace closer where there are fish

Calvert cliffs is 1 hour away from me not very far I was just wondering if there are any catches

anyfish will do fine usually catch croakers at point lookout

I usually refur to This for fishing spots, but I wouldnt want to go there unsatisfied so im just verifying here

where exactly should I go? Virginia will be fine if there are catches plus wouldnt have to payer higher for non residential license
