I was FINALLY able to get back on the water, albeit on a friend's boat. My outboard is making a strange rattling noise that I have nebulously pinpointed to an area I can't access without a puller, so I have been off the water for about a month now.

Bait was menhaden and we headed to the CBBT between the 2nd and 3rd islands. We fished the pilings halfway between the islands. The current never really got moving fast and created a drift that let us go almost parallel to the bridge with only an occasional bump to the throttle to keep us in position.

Put 11 flounder in the cooler with a 5.5, 4.5, and a couple of 3 lbers at the high end. The rest were 17 - 20".

I was fishing a 3 way with a 2' 20lb leader, size 1 wide gap hook and a 7" drop for the sinker. I caught 20-25 with 10 keepers.

My buddy was fishing a fish-finder rig with an egg sinker and 40 lb line. He caught 7-10 with 1 keeper that ran a little over 3 lbs.

Fish didn't seem to be congregated on any particular pilings, but they were almost always down current (of course).

And the spades were EVERYWHERE! I fished for them for a while with clam fish bites, but no takers mad.gif . They would roll around and eyeball it and then move off. There were so many of the little jellyfish in the water that I think the spades were full. I am going to carry my tried and true clams next time and do a true comparative test. And I forgot to bring the peeled grapes (I was so wanting to try that).

End of the day, 11 flounder, 3 croaker, 0 spades. Man, it was nice to be back on the water.
