We ran offshore for some spades and triggerfish. Got anchored up and had the spades all around us by the hundreds. There were a mix of big and small spades in the schools. We were setup by 8am and fished until 12. The spades were very shy and finicky. We had one small one and one that went 6.2lbs. It was aggervating seeing all those fish and not being able to hook up to them. On the bottom we had a big dogfish shark and 3 flounder with one keeper. No luck with the triggerfish. At 12 we ran to the high rise and wirelined for flounder and had 4 out of 8 keepers with the biggest 24inches. On slack tide we tried for some sheepshead with zero success. We did see some small spades around the pillings but not big enough to fish for. All in all it was not a bad day but seeing the citation size spades all around and not being able to hook one is very aggervating.

Clam for bait w/the spades? I used clam fish bites and struck out Sunday. If you were using real clam, then I feel a little better - maybe there's so many jellyfish that they can afford to be picky.
Still sounds like you had a good day, though.
