I am pretty sure most of the stripers are working their way up the rivers now if they havent yet. I live in Williamsburg and I can see tons of them swimming under the lights at night. Its fun fishing for them when you can see them pop out of the water. Usually they stay around until September/October then they start schooling up after the first cold front. You can catch them just about anywhere now. Thats the pattern I have noticed for the last 5 years since I have been night fishing for them around this time of the year. I just catch them for the sport of it with small jigs. Very fun!!

I got a 15lb one on sat fishing the rocks at the 4th. When the season gets in swing take live spot or croaker work good when you cant get them eels and use storms and yozuri around the islands more the 3rd and 4th.

Caught a 37" this weekend at the Cape Henry wreck fishing for Flounder. I was using a 6" Bunker for bait.

If you're looking to kill 'em. The season opens Oct 4th, and they will be here. As you've probably already read, plenty are here year round. If you're not catching them its cause you're not putting enough salt water on your lures, hah! In the fall, trolling sassy shads is probably the most popular method, followed by casting just about anything. Jigging works, live lining can work, and fishing bait can also do the trick. Where and when are you planning to go? - hey Fin Stoked, nice catch, that one would have surprised me! With all the purse seines in the bay, I worry that those big boys are starving to death, did he have some fat on him, or skin and bones?
