After checking all the forecasts, wind models, virtual bouys, Mike (Rockin Robin) and I put in at the Narrows and "Plan" on fishing the CBBT. We leave the Lynnhaven channel and head for Cape Hnery to poke our noses out. We were rigged for any action, just in case the reports were off. Bumpy, but not too bad. Motor East and hop the bouys looking for browns. .
Get to the CLT and put out a King Spread and start trolling. Trolled east and then towards the Triangle Wrecks and picked up a 22 inch Spanish Mack, and a Houndfish about 6 miles east of the CLT on 3 1/2 inch drone.
Get to the Trianlge Wrecks and nothing. Decide to run back and on the way find a green water/blue water rip with big weed carpets. Troll some dolphin stuff and Mike gets an 18 pound bull on pink and white seawithed ballyhoo!! Troll a little more and then decide to jig around the weed beds. Mike hooks another gaffer bull on a Penn 4300 spinning reel!! ohmy.gif He fights it for a while and then it airs and throws the hook! Jig a while more and get a couple of small chicken dolphin. Pull up and head home at 3:30.
Seas were choppy in the morning which made for a bumpy ride, but it laid down throughout the day. It wasn't an easy ride, but had no problem trolling or drifting by the weeds. Made 25-27 knots on the ride home. Water temps 70-72 degrees. Awesome day and great to be back on the water!! biggrin.gif

Catch 'em Up!!

Yeh Cool Breeze, it was a long ride. It was one of those "let's see how far we can get without getting beat up" days.

Sounds like you had a great time, I went out with Bitemysister to the fingers, and you could not ask for a better day, 2-3footers, had a blast. Even managed a few fish. Congrats on your catch
