fishist
I'm starting to get worried about the spot situation. With the recent stretch of cooler, windy weather, they should be moving down. They probably won't stay around long either. Is anyone out there having any luck locally yet? They should be showing up around the CBBT and in Lynnhaven. Come on, give it up for the old fishist. It's not like we're sharing speckled trout secrets. Thanks.

Fished lynnhaven this morning. Out going tide till about 11:30. Small sea bass and toads ( Some of the toads where hughe) lots of wind and the smell ofr Diesel from the dredge I asume. I'll give it a try tommorrow too baybe go farther up the creek.

I caught a 1 lb today while fishing for bait. Too bad about the weight being raised - it was a citation last year sad.gif .

Later in the day we saw tons of medium to large spot being caught in the turning basin (we didn't fish it because it is ILLEGAL to fish the basin, but it was mighty tempting). The idiots catching the fish wouldn't get out the way of the pilot boats - TWICE! I was very surprised that the captains didn't call the law; they literally had to thread their way through the cluster of boats there.

After two weeks of wind I started going through withdrawal so headed down to Long's Creek this morning and fished from the wall. Three small spot and I didn't see any others caught. Someone was fishing the sheet piling (and I mean within inches of it) and I saw them come up with three large fish in about ten minutes. They pulled them in low and fast so I only got a glimpse, but my guess would be puppies except they looked a little too silver. Too big for croaker.

The law was not on patrol today. Boats were anchored all the way through the channel.

I was really dissappointed that I couldn't get some nice spot in the boat this weekend. Small ones were scattered around but I think I caught more scup and black willies than spot. I fished within inches of the sheet piling at low and didn't get a lookin at. Schoolies were busting all over, too.
Has anybody had luck with spot out front or near the tunnel? They aren't piled up inside like they were last year, or else they came last weekend and I missed out. If its not blowing next weekend I'm going lookin.
