anyone seen any reds out at fisherman's island and the outer islands? I was thinking about taking a shot at it later this week and was wondering if anyone had gone or had any luck with it. With the weather lately I havent been keeping up with the fishing or doing any of my own. Thanks for any help.

yeah, Im pretty sure that I have caught them into mid november in the past. I dont think this year has been colder than usual so I would guess they would be hanging around. I have a few buddies fishing with me this week that arent regulars so if they are up to it I may run around and see what I can pull up. Ill give yall a heads up if I find a big boy or two. I need something large to argue with to get me ready for Jan and Feb stripers.

They are still catching them at SandBridge although the NW winds usually shuts the bite down. When the wind shifts expect a good bight. They have been caught over on the Easternshore also not the Pups the Big ones. The Sea Temp. is still 68 Deg. We hammered the Bull Reds this Spring in 58 Deg water so I know they can stick around for a while if they want to.

speaking of water temp., what's available around the CLT as the water gets down to 65 degrees? Any kings still sticking around? How about false albacore?

I've read reports from the LIP's website and they are saying the drum bite stopped dead with the NW, W winds. They are hoping for some East wind mixed in to get it going again. Might get their wish.

I went to the tower with a livewell full of Spot. There were some good marks down there but no takers.I had one quick pickup and run but never got a hookset. The Water temp.was 67 Deg at the Tower.

What temp will chase them off?? I am wondering if there is a magic number that kind of ends the bite. Did you see any scholls of those cigar minnows around the Tower?

Caught yesterday at the CBBT. I don't know anything about the angler. The photo was sent to me by an angler fishing in another boat.

Mega -- Trout fishing would have been a positive, given the reports. My boys and I went out Saturday and caught 4 specks -- 3 keepers. They hit on chartreuse grubs (one hit a fishbite bloodworm meant for a spot!) Keeling drain and Dunkard's hole. That night they got stripers in Long creek by the bridge -- topwater plugs! Fun day.
Anyway, back to the CLT -- the first week of October (before the lengthy blow) we were out at the tower and those baitfish (I thought they werecigar minnows-maybe anchovies?) were all around the pilings. I forgot my thrownet, so my boys used some hopkins with trebles and snagged a few. As soon as they snagged them, I grabbed 'em slipped them on a 6/0 hook and let them swim down. We caught 4 spanish 22-25" We also had a couple wild hookups that took 17 lb test spinning rods for a run. I'm guessing Falsies--maybe a king. Didn't boat any of those guys though. Next time I'm taking the small throw net to try to get some of that bait without having to snag it. Fun stuff for the kids (7 and 10 yrs old)

I tried the net they are too fast and escape before the net wraps around them.Frank R. told me to use sand to disorient them then throw the net.

Thanks for the info. Is sand code for an M-80? Just kidding. If I don't get out there in the next few days I got a new toy to try around the CBBT -- a 48" green fishlight. It looks way cool and is calling to me as it sits in bubble wrap in my back hallway. I'll let evryone know how it works.

Now I have seen them in mid november but december is pretty late. I do remember a couple years ago we had a really warm early winter and I was still surfing bareback well into december so maybe that is the same year, but december for drum is real late.
I didnt make it out to look for any drum this week. I had some friends go fishing with me so I tried to get them on some striper instead. I didnt want to be a bad host and drag them up to the eastern shore or down to false cape on an exploratory mission.
