That's great! I've got a nephew(15) and niece(13) that I'm trying to do the same. I'll be watching them next week while their parents head to the Bahamas...Wilma willing...so I hope to get them out to do some fishing. They're pretty competitive, so I have to be in the middle and referee.

Keep the sport alive!!

Good job. When my daughter was three, her first "fish on" scared her so much she threw her pole down and ran. She is 10 now and has come a long way.

I will never forget it.

What I rememeber most from childhood is hunting and fishing with my dad.

MB looks like your boys will remember the same.

Families that hunt and fish together stay together. Memories are worth a lot so take a lot of pictures, cause kids can drive you to drinking.

I did all the Drinkin before I had kids now I drink Red Bull or Water.

Nice!!!!! My son's are grown but lack the enthusiasm that I have for fishing. I took that hard ride from LC to Broadbay and the current was too strong for me to anchor without the help of someone else. I really need to get rid of this cruiser and buy a fishing boat, so I can get to the anchor without having to go in the cabin. Once again, congrat's to your little one!

Inside the inlet without the swell factor you could anchor off your stern and get to the anchor alot quicker. In any other situation anchoring off the stern ain't cool.

Congrats Mega to your kids. I'm planning on taking my boys on Thursday (Wilma permitting) to try for some spot. (They are 9 and 7). I always feel guilty not taking them for striper--but I mainly go at night to HRBT or CBBT and just feel nervous taking them out at night on my smaller boat. Plus they haven't really got the hang of casting yet. I think bottom fishing is the best way to introduce young kids to our sport and is especially great if the fish are plentiful. Hope they stick around for a few more days!!!!!

P.S.--are you planning on doing any charter trips for Cobia next year?--If so, I'd like to get on the list now!!

Your on just contact me in May and we can get on the Cobia. 377-5091 cell.

Now I'm not a superstitious person but after reading about all the big spot being caught, I finally got my first citation. I opted not to take my boat out today, so I went to LI pier. It started out as a typical fishing trip for me, where everyone else was pulling in the big fish. Several times, something (I imagine a big spot) grabbed my line and had enough horse power to prevent being cranked to the pier. Not to mention that I couldn't help getting excited and probably ripping the bait out of their soft mouth. The last time I decided to just crank without setting the hook. I thought I had a small flounder at first until that distinctive spot was displayed. I just knew it would get off the hook, like the many before it. Well I got him to the pier and noticed it took two hands to hold it. After being prompted to weigh it, it weighed in at 1lb 3 oz. Being that this was my first citation, my day was complete, even if I didn't catch another fish. Now it's time to hit the water (Wilma permitting) to track down the big ones before they leave the scene.

CONGRATS!
