Just wondering what the actual law for tying off to the bridge is. I heard it was illegal but have never seen it in writing, and never seen or heard of anyone ticketed for it.
Thanks

Defienitely illegal after 9/11. Have seen the actual code posted on this site (I think) last season. Definitely enforced at CBBT -- talked to a number of folks who were warned, and some ticketed. Norfolk Police boat was out at HRBT last night (a parking lot!!!) and from the looks of things, they just were making sure no one was tied up to the pilings. There is also a new sign at the HRBT that says "mooring prohibited".

I was asking cause I was out last night and the police drove by several times with boats tied up at the first and never even stopped. Guess we were all lucky.

it really depends on their mood if its the coast guard they will normally tell you to back off but ive been out there everynight for weeks at a time and never been botherd maybe its my luck but i think they just undedrstand thats the spot to be. my luck ill be stopped one day for it but im never gonna stop . especially with those crazy guys going in and out hovering around me sometimes in strong current i like to just chill in one spot for a while is that so wrong. as long as you have some rods visable you shouldnt get messed with.
