Hi all,
I am new to this board.
Have fished off shore out of va beach and ocean city md.
Live in the mountains of western va....about 3 1/2 hours away.
Sold my big water boat a last year and now have a bass boat....
My wife has been after me for some salt fishing.
blink.gif now that i dont really have the boat to do it with....
we are thinking of going to cherrey stone for the weekend.
The question is....will my boat be ok in that area and what type of fish are in that area?
Are the flounder still around or has it cooled off to much for them?
Thanks for the help

Welcome to the board!!
First the boat...I know guys that fish bass boats in the bay a lot and have no problems on good weather days. I'm sure you know to wash it good and run the motor with fresh water. Cherry Stone should have facilities for that. I know they have a boat parking lot as you enter the camp site.
Fishing...You are in range to get to the Concrete Ships near Kiptopeke and the Ches. Bay Bridge Tunnel. Your best bet for flounder would be in the deeper water of the Baltimore Channel, or under the High Rise of the CBBT. May be a good chance of stripers and red drum around the High Rise, too. You might try around Fisherman's Island for trout, spot, etc.
The water ways around the boat ramp at Cherry Stone look real fishy. I went there this time last year with my brother's family, but arrived with some strong winds so we fished back in those protected areas. Didnt have much luck, but it looked like there should be fish there.
When you get to CherryStone, go to the tackle shop(it is towards the back of the camp ground on the water) and ask them whats biting and where. I know there are some other good fishing places up in the bay that are close to CherryStone, but I'm not familar with them. I'll try to get some other info if I can. Hope this helps!!
Good luck!!

Let me clarify on the boat. Make sure the weather is favorable for your size boat and that you feel comfortable in it. You gotta know your limits.

I don`t think I would take on Chessy in a bass boat, Flounder should be around until the water temp. drops down in the lower 50`s.. Welcome to the board!!!!
