I have a wire line set up for Mojo's. I have a TLD that I want to rig with Power pro for another MOJO.

I noticed right off the bat that it mainly comes in only 150 yd spools.

My question is do you guys use backing?

If so How much and what?

Just trying to get set before the cows come home. biggrin.gif

I have Power Pro on all of my reels except one and have no backing on them. I take a few wraps of electrical tape on the spool to give the line something to dig into. That being said...that's when I had money and could afford 30-40 bucks for a spool of 500 yards of PowerPro. I used to be able to find spools of 300-500 at Sports Authority, but I don;t know if they still have it...haven't been in in a while. I would back spools now just beacuse of the expense. Some guys I've talked to use Dacron and others mono. You have to use something that isn't too big in diameter so the Power Pro won't cut in between the wraps of the backing. Amount, I would go 60%-40%, 60 being Power Pro. I use it for Mojo's too and no problems getting and holding bottom.
A note for knots...double the number of wraps you usually use in tying a knot with Power Pro.

Good Luck Eric!

Most tackle shops have it in bulk and can put it on for you. You should use backing so it doesent spin on the spindle or cut back into itself.I just use mono but you could use dacron. They do sell 500 yard spools .You can get the tackle shop to spin it off on an old spool if you want to put it on yourself.
