Can someone tell me which is better Hatteras or OI? Trying to find out which is closer to the tnua?

Both places have been doing well with catches of tuna with some wahoo mixed in. HI had some mahi and some billfish early in the week. As far as runs, it is a shorter run to the warm water from HI, but the drive is longer...6 of one half dozen of another. And just because the warm water is there, doesn't mean the tuna are.
Check the reports tonight when the fleet comes back. Most everyone I've seen saying that they are making the trip are going out of OI.
I heard the boats yesterday were back at noon with limits of tuna!!
If it were me, I'd go out of OI. You might have a longer run to the break, but you might see something on the way out...and have more fishing time. You can't catch fish while driving on Highway 12.
