Beautiful day....left the dock at around 0500 with a parade of boats following the charters through the sound and out OI. That is one crazy route to the inlet and then through the inlet !.....

headed due south about 45 - 50 miles to the Temp break and put lines in....Had a Yellowfin in the boat by 0830....The water went from 68 - 77 in the span of less than a mile...wind started out of the NW at about 20 Kts but eventually turned around to SW and layed down a bit later in the day...

Trolled a few more hours and ended up boating a couple more Yellowfin and a Wahoo.....pulled lines around 1PM and headed in.....The tide was ripping out at about 10Kts through the inlet...there's alot of water that comes out of that inlet.

There were so many boats out there it looked like a december day of striper fishing at False Cape or Sandbridge !...lol.....Bob

There were a bunch of us, wasn't there? I'm assuming boats from both Hatteras and OI were fishing together. We stayed away from the crowd and seemed to do better offshore of the masses.

Yea.... I made a rookie mistake...we hooked up early and boated a YF...but then trolled towards the fleet that was north of us...once we figured out the fish were back towards the south group of boats we only had enough time to land a couple more YF's and then a Wahoo...Wahoo skyed when he hit, it was awesome....

it was definately crowded, that's why we pulled lines at 1PM and headed in, wanted to beat the crowd back to the ramp so we could get back to VA BEACH.

Good job on your catch....nice bunch of fish for sure !......Bob

We were on the SS Jewelz (probably wrong spelling) 28 shamrock (nice boat)

We mostly stayed away from the crowd, but the crowd kind of spread out toward us. We had 8 hits and baoted 4 YFT. We had a wahoo or king airshow in the spread for min and then a hit, but it was a YFT we boated.

Fished with Paul (his boat) and Mike (rock'n Robin)

Mike hooked me up with some world class rigging and line handling skills, and Paul did not yell at me too bad when i tangled the outrigger lines.

What a great day

Yesterday, sunday was my first time fishing out of OI and I can't wait till i go back. We had 7 people on the boat and we limited. we slayed them. We had some decent sized fish most about 30lbs, 5 were probably 50lb +. Ended the day with 21 yft and 3 gaffer dolphins

Pretty work. A limit on your first trip. Now the tunas aren't the only thing hooked. Welcome to the club.

Hey Bob, that wasn't a rookie mistake. You had to make a call and you did. That's where the luck factor figures in. Unless you're talking to someone on the radio, you have no idea where the fish are. I got on some this last time. Next time I might not be so lucky. You had a good day, and better ones are ahead!
