Well...went out Saturday around 0600...conditions were perfect, glassy water, barely a breeze and warming up quickly....had to get the frost off the glass when we first went out...anyway....we headed out to the Hotdog/Lumps area and spotted a couple of trawlers working the area. We went ahead and put out a nice spread and worked around them for a while....no hits, nadda !.....pulled lines and headed to the wreck out by the 21Fathom finger....saw marks down deep so put out a couple of planers and some topwater Skirted hoo...again, nothing....
Pulled lines and started wreck jumping...small fish here and there but nothing major....mostly Blue Fish...saw a spotter plane cirling around the top of the hotdog so we pulled lines and went there again....stopped and began putting out butterfish.....trawlers were again working the area, guess the plane was spotting fish for those guys..anyways....hear the great sound of tic, tic tic on one of our drifting baits and then it starts screaming off line....
I was drinking a beer in the front of the boat and one of my boys grabbed the rod....locked up and began fighting...we know pretty quickly it's not a Giant Blue fin as it's coming in too easy....ends up being about a 4 - 5 foot shark....we released him and called it a day..
running in we see a bee hive of birds about 2 miles off the golf ball so we put out a spread of stretches and couple of storms off three-ways....marking tons of bait and fish....get a hit on the stretch...good fish but he ends up running right at the boat and making a left, wrapped up all the other lines out there..lost him !...
Pulled em in and left...
Met Hang-Time....nice guy nice boat...really pretty CAT....No meat in the box but a good weekend all in all........Bob
