Yellowfin tuna action has been fantastic. The bite has been around the 750 line and boats running out of both Oregon Inlet and Rudee Inlet have been joining in on the fun. Most everybody has been trolling. The hot bait has been something pink a good ways behind a planer. The few boats that have tried chunking have done well. Mixed in with the yellowfin are some nice wahoo. The bluefin bite has been scattered and the ones that have been caught have been in the 70-100 pound range. The big boys should be around somewhere but very few boats have been out there looking. The ocean wrecks have been loaded with sea bass with some trigger fish thrown in. There has been an impressive flounder bite around some of the wrecks. The Tower Reef and the Triangle Wrecks have been good locations for flounder but the real hot spot has been the Brass Spike.
