Welcome to the board!! I say what gus said. I read somewhere, can't remember where, but I think there was a good tog bite around the Concrete Ships.
You're still in good striking distance for some good striper action, too. Hit the High Rise and troll the pilings or drop some live eels. If it's not too bumpy, you should be able to get out to Cape Henry or the ocean side of Fisherman's Island. There's a lot of bay striper fishing left.
Good luck and Catch 'em Up!!

Welcome to the board!!. I fish mostly in the bay with an 18' as well. Agree with the above posts--CBBT is right there where you are putting in and a great place to fish. On a calm day, Cape Henry is also doable and you will see a small armada of boats out there in all shapes and sizes out there during ocean striper season--some even smaller than yours. I would just suggest that you pick your days and use caution. Good luck and let us know how you do.

Sandflea,
If you launch at Kiptopeake and not sure about going all the way to the CBBT, then try the bridge that goes from the 'mainland' to Fisherman's Island. Some real nice fish are caught from there time to time.

From Kiptopeake you should be able to get to the High Rise on a good day. but also around the concrete ships there will be the schools of birds which are fun to follow and cast into them for the rock...... They might not be huge fish but still nice size if it is first time they getaround 19 -23 inches but if your on the bottom you can catch those big ones
for bait in the schoolies i use from a 2 to a 4 ounce bucktail with a white grub tail on or i use 5 inch storms, But they dont get you to the bottom as well as the bucktails would for the bigger fish
