Hey folks,
New to the board, mainly fish the mid-bay for Rockfish but will be heading down this Thursday to try my hand at the CBBT and the Ocean for the weekend. Plan on hitting the CBBT on Friday, weather permitting, to hopefully avoid some of the weekend crowds. Has there been any reports of the Striper bite off the beaches? Want to try the ocean side on Saturday. Typically, when does the Ocean season heat up? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Nothings hot right now. I would suggest trying Cape Henry, we marked some good pods of fish last weekend and its just a matter of time before they start biting. If you want to do some live bait (eels) go towards the High Rise they caught 31#-51#ers last Sunday using eels along the pilings, I talked to four differnet people and they all said the caught one fish inbetween that range. The Ocean season doesn't get hot until around Middle of December. But the way this weather has been so up and down they might bypass us and stay out past the three mile line if it doesn,t consistantly stay cold. Good Luck.

Clod, Welcome to the board!! I would do like suited said...try around the High Rise and the CBBT tubes and rocks. I would keep your eye on Cape Henry though...it could turn on anytime. These 70 degree days are nice, but suck for getting those big cow stripers moving.
Catch 'em Up!!

There was some very good fishing offf Cape Henry early on Saturday and just outside of the 3rd island on Sunday. Both days the bite was early in the morning. The bigger fish were off Wolf Trap Light on Sunday, thus, they should be at the CBBT by this weekend.

Thanks for the info. Looking forward to the trip. Looks like Friday might be a bit windy but hopefully that won't stop us. Fishing on a 23' Sea Pro Walk Around. Been in some pretty rough stuff during the Spring run. Looks like the CBBT to Cape Henry is the ticket. Any big Blues running off the beaches? Read some crazy reports of BFT being hooked off the beaches. How far off are they being hooked? Are they chasing the Stripers?

You might catch a blue or two out by Cape Henry. I saw the report about the Blue fin. That is just one lucky catch to catch a Blue fin that close to shore but anything is possible. Guy caught one a couple of years ago at the CBBT.

The bite has continued each day this week when one could get out to the CBBT--ocean side from the 3rd island to Cape Henry.
Looks to be windy on Friday, you might want to launch at Owl Creek (Rudee Inlet) and fish off the ocean side of the beach. Would then be in the lee of the land.
