The saga of the daisy chain continues......

Well, Saturday looked like the day. My 2 cousin-in-laws from up north and cousin from Richmond had had their fill of schoolies on Wed night, and had heard about the big ocean striper that could be had around CBBT and CH. They were chomping at the bit to get out. I was on-call Sat, but their enthusiasm swayed me (didn't take much arm twisting)--so I called in a few favors, made a couple of calls, and wala-found some coverage and got the boat in the water for an am launch. Hadn't put the curtains up this year, so got 'em ready. Gave the heavy stuff a once over, lubed the trollin' rods, etc. etc. Got up really early Sat and made rounds at both hospitals and headed for the marina.

Gave the boys some time to sleep in, since it was pretty chilly in the morning, but the forecast was calling for temps in the 50's and flat seas later on. Called around 10---no answer--left a message. Return call--well, it's pretty cold out there---yeah, we knew that---we're a little under the weather from Wed night (translation--our panties are on too tight).

Anyway, I wasn't heading out there alone. Favors that were called in were wasted, all that preparation for naught, and Keith's daisy chain still sits untested....

I guess it's the last trip I put together for that bunch.....

Shoot...next time that happens give me a yell. I don't wear panties, so there's nothing to get in a bunch biggrin.gif

I fished the HRBT that day with a buddy and caught a lot, but all shorties. Would like to get out to the CBBT at some point during this season, but I'm not real crazy about taking my boat.

Eric,
I'll help you with anything on the boat, but don't even think about asking me to do any roofing!! I had my fill roofing my brother's house. If I were you...I'd RUNNNNNNNNNNN!! tongue.gif

NJ,
Sorry you couldn't get out...I know what that's like. sad.gif

Those who won't go when it's a little chilly or uncomfortable will never experience the thrill of bringing in a big one.........it's only going to get colder...and the fish are only going to get bigger!!!!!!

I remember one time my buddy begged to go striper fishing and then the night before he was the last one to leave the bar even though we told him it would be an early start. Well 5AM rolls around and he toughs it out and makes it to the boat. I told him, "we ain't coming in if you get sick. " "I'm good" was the reply. Well it was a typical striper day in late December, cold and rainy. We get out there and I pass him an eel, man he starts turning gray but gets it on the hook. Then I ask him if he wants a beer. Next thing I know his head is over the side and breakfast is coming back. He was hurting all day. We made sure to stay out extra long, smoked a bunch of cigars, drank beer and slipped eels into his pocket when he wasn't looking. He didn't catch a thing, in fact every time he pulled his line in, the eel had wrapped a nice tight knot for him. Lesson learned.

Sounds like justice to me.
