Fin Stoked
Plan on heading out to the tower on Sat morning and start a trawl east. I have heard of some BF caught 2 miles east of the tower last week (can't name any names). I'm looking for some big blue's (fish) and hopefully something to give some more excitement (BF).

Call name: Fin Stoked on ch. 68

God and weather permitting, will be in the mix. Starting inside CLT and trolling here and there.

What's the current BFT reg?? Is it one between 47 and 73 Curved Fork length, or one between and one over 73 for a total of 2?

See Bluefin Regs in this forum.(Scroll down a smidge on the Offshore column to "New Bluefin Limits")
Anyway,here is the game:
1)Have Permit? If so,go to #2
2)One 47"-73" per trip/day.Got Tuna? Go to #3
3)All BFT must be reported to NMFS at 888-872-8862 within 24 hours. huh.gif

Bluefin regs...

NMFS has issued new size limits for bluefin tuna. One fish per boat, per day 47 inches to less than 73 inches. No more schoolies. This is effective October 1st. There is a trophy season open allowing one fish greater than 73 inches, per boat, per YEAR. Here's the site.
Bluefin Tuna Limits

I don't know you all saw in Saltwater Sportsman's October issue, but there is a scientific study going on with schoolie bluefin. The scientists have tagged about 50 fish as of August, 100 will be tagged in all. If you catch one you get $500. You can remove the tag and send it in to the info on the tag to get the money. They would like the whole fish, but that would be hard to put in an envelope. You're allowed to keep the fish even if undersized, and it won't count against your daily limit.
Here's their web site.
