I touched on this in a report, but I wanted to make sure you all are aware of this. There is a single yellow buoy about 3 miles due east of the water tower at Sandbridge that is marking a gill net that runs north of the buoy. There is no second buoy marking the other end. I don't know if has been pulled by its owner yet, but if you're out there becareful...its a mojo magnet!!!

Thanks for the heads up. I am curious as to whether the owner pulled the net up yet. I'll watch out for that area!

Believe it or not.....that net belongs to one of the regulars on this board......I'm not naming names but I did recognize the name on the boat from several posts that I have read here..... I saw a couple of gents last Sunday having a hell of a time pulling that net up by hand, ( nice work out)!!!! It was a beautiful day on the water though.....

I don't think who you saw was the owner of that net.
In a earlier post someone was just trying to get their mojos back and gave up.

Yeah, those two guys heaving on it were me and Mike(Rockin Robin). Its not our net, but almost became ours. After some heavy hauling and a great workout, we got all the way to the net and saw the carnage in it and threw it back out...didn't want to deal with the wasted bycatch. There were no numbers on the buoy...I thought they had to post those on them?!?!

I hung up a daisy chain on a pot line a few weeks ago, very swift current.
It was a lure that was producing, so I wanted it back.
Man it was like a rescue mission getting it back, but it is ready for action on sunday.

So...what are the laws/rules when you hang a lure in one of these jokers. Do you have the right to re-claim your lure by any means necessary (a: pull it up nad remove; or b; pull it up and cut it out?). Would not want to wreck someones net that a: cost them a lot of money and b: sucks up the fish I am trying to catch. Any info on the rules/law on this would be greatly appreciated because even though I am sure their nets are expensive, we all tend to have a fair amount wrapped up in lures (and I am not what one could call wealthy).

I'm not sure of the laws. Believe me, we were thinking about cutting the remaining buoy, but what would that get us...nothing. We tried to get the net up to get our stuff, but those suckers are heavier then you'd think, and once we saw the dead fish in it, we decided against going any further.
I think though, that if I get hung on a whelk pot and there aren't a millon boats around, I'm going to try and put it up to get my stuff back.
I would be intereseted in knowing any legal rights one might have....

I dont know about pulling c commerical guys gear, under normal circumdtances i would say no, but this is a net with one marker that is not identified. In the middle bay the comerical guys dont take kindly to that. It is now a nav hazard and the coast guard should be informed.
if that is the name one bouy net.

This net sounds like an environmental hazard if no one is pulling it.
