Fished CH today from 7 until 1. Caught 7 fish, mostly schoolies between 18"-25", one (1) was 34" and went about 15 lbs. The 34" was caught on a Gray Stretch 25. All the fish were caught between 8 and 11AM, after that nothing. Lost another Mojo to the bottom along with an Umbrella rig. Great conditions, slow fishing. Didn't sound like anyone was having any action. Water temps from 42 to 44.

You did pretty good, I was down at Oregon inlet yesterday and watched five Charters come in with no fish at all.

I wonder if this warmer winter (as "cold" as some might say, this winter is totally mild compared to the last two) might draw/keep some fish up our way through till the Spring. Did you guys notice bait out there today?

Nice work, Jason and Greg. I didn't mark much bait or see any birds working.

Put a ballbearring swivel on each spoon.Sounds good put it next to the spoon umbrella I made and get some welders flash. The Striper will have to wear cheap sunglasses.

We were in the great pile of boats Sun. We scratched out 4 keepers. Also had an encounter with US Coast Guard, which nothing came of because were we legal in all respects. I watched the coasties nab a Cat and held them up a long time east of us. Nice job Gigolot -catching fish and staying out of 500 boats down there Sun was quite an accomplishment.

Some days are diamonds!!
Decided to take the plunge and head south to Corolla, a chilly ride in an open center console boat. Water was good and we made it down there in about an hour at full throttle. We put in at the lighthouse near shore and started trolling out toward the fleet. Picked up the first nice fish before we got out to them. We trolled that area for a while and then decided to motor on down to the fleet which was by then a few miles south. Nothing until the fleet had moved on further south and then picked up the second fish a little after 2:00. That made us happy with a fish apiece and we had set 2:00 as a deadline to head back. We decided to just troll toward shore and then pull up the lines. About a half mile from shore the first rod went over and about 30 seconds later the second. Quite interesting pulling in two big stripers at once of the back end of an 18’ boat with four rods down, but we got through all the tangles and landed the fish. With a limit in the box we headed back to Rudee with a couple big smiles in the boat as well.
Got all four fish on Stretch 25s, one on chartreuse, one on red & white, and two on a gray behind a Mojo. The daisy chain off the Mojo never did a thing. After pulling in that 20 oz Mojo all day, I felt like I was fishing halibut back up in Alaska. The lure puts up a bigger fight than the fish. I’ve got a pair of downriggers from back on Lake Michigan. I think I might look at rigging them up on this boat. As long as the bottom is fairly flat they’re pretty handy and in 60 foot of water you could easily run 2-3 lines off each and cover the whole water column.
