Went out of Rudees today at 6:15 got hooked up right outside the inlet at 6:30 ended up getting that fish to the boat at 6:55 (Foul Hooked)..Got into the Birds and heavy bait off of Cape Henry around 9:30 and caught 30-40 nice size fish. Caught one Citation at 46" and 39 1/2lbs, had four other keepers over 40 inches. Birds, Fish and Bait everywhere it was a great day to be out on the water. Much easier to fish than Saturday with not near as many boats... Also on Saturday my 6 year old reeled in a 45 inch 38 lber all by him self(it was awesome to watch and thank goodness for a two speed reel and leaving the rod in the gunnell...

a word of advise concerning the photo attached..........my nephew (7 years old) was fishing in that same group of boats and reeling a large fish to the boat out of the rod holder in the same fashion as the young angler pictured. (two hands with one wrapped under the reel) as he was bringing the handle from 6 o'clock back to 12 o'clock he lifted the rod out of the holder. thank god his daddy grabbed the rod before a penn international 20 and a custom rod went for a ride. it was a heck of a bite for a couple hours!!!!!!!!!

Shoal Bandit, Thanks for the advise, I would have probably lost it because I was having so much fun just watching him work and he would not let anyone help him....

Good stuff...The most fun I have fishing is watching my 7 yr old son bring in a fish. I usually make him hold the pole by himself and I assist as needed with holding the pole while he cranks. The way I see it, he has been fishing since three so he has plenty of experience. Again, keep him after fish so we have a new generation.

Nice job by the young angler on the fish and what a great photo. Memories forever. I did the same with my son at an early age and now he is 16, only now he can drive the boat, get the boat packed, does all the rigging, clean the boat, and clean the fish. It just seems to stay with them and want to make them go time and time again. Oh yeah....I pay for the gas.
