Left Dr Wright's on Saturday early, planning on fishing the Cape Henry area and so forth for stripers. On the way out, noticed the Northstar GPS was not reading anything more than speed and direction. I really didn't pay to much attention,as thats all I use till I am on site.Course, the weather was VERY foggy and once I was past the entrance buoy, I switched over to plot so I could keep away from the beach.(The Mako's radar is down)Well,lo and behold, I had nothing but speed and direction! On any screen! So I opened the MAGIC COMPUTER CARD SLOT and it was EMPTY! I then cell phoned Dr W. to tell HIM he had been robbed or something!About half an hour later, he called back to say someone (names withheld) had BORROWED the card this week,AND FORGOT TO PUT IT BACK! Thank goodness the Man Overboard Button works even without the card. I went west till I found the Cape Henry Lighthouse (had to go in REAL CLOSE) and pushed MOB. I then fished around the cape until the fog lifted in the early afternoon. Caught three stripers, but could not get in on the great bite down south.BLIND< you know.
I shudder to think what would happen to one of our newbies if that happened!
On the bright side, as I was leaving Lynnhaven, there were thousands of gannets diving and bee-hiving back towards the CBBT, so don't give up fishing the cape quite yet. There ARE more on the way!
