Woke up this morning at 5:30. The wife says that she's off and wants to fish. I'm thinkin tog, she's thinkin flounder, croaker.
Loaded up the boat with flounder rigs, bomac, clam , squid and mullet. Offloaded all the rockfish gear and off we went out of Little Creek into a light SW wind and slick conditions.
Arrived at the 3rd to a slack current and started fishing around the 3 rd for bottom dwellers. Bottom dwellers we got, plenty of dogfish for everyone.
Moved over by the bend and started drifting the 1 kt flood. Went through the tunnel and I could not believe all the specs I saw. I started casting red head 52m's at em but they were too spooked. They were all small and finning the surface. As we stealthly drifted up on them they would shoot away in every direction.
Around 11 am we were gonna call it and head in but we hung 2 flounder on the mullet. 23" and a fat 26". We then caught about a dozen croaker on spec rigs and squid in the same area off the bend in 42' of 50* water.
We stayed in that area till 11:15 and headed back in to a west wind.
The fishing was slow but it was a great morning with the wife.
Tight lines all
