Just wanted to say thanks for a great site and very helpful information that is shared on this website. I am truly learning a lot.
Since my family and I will be moving to the Norfolk area in June, what kind of fish can be caught around Ocean View and/or the areas around VA Beach during the summer months.
I don't have a boat, so my kids and I will have to fish from the shore and banks.
Thanks and best regards,
Marc

Marc,
You can catch croaker, spot, flounder, striper, blues and a few others off of the Ocean View pier and from the beach point at the turn at the HRBT in Willoughby. I fished these locations before I got my boat and I still do. Like Jeff says , try the CBBT pier.
Good Luck, GIL

Jeff and Gil,
Thanks a ton for the info. I really appreciate it.
What does "CBBT" and "HRBT" stand for? Sorry for the simple questions, I've got a lot to learn...
Thanks,
Marc

i do have a boat, but i enjoy surfishing out at tidewater community college here in churchland. i went out this afternoon and took the kids. we fished for about 2 hours and the first hour we caught about 10 croakers then nothing(outgoing tide) but the kids had a blast and when we werent catching fish they had plenty of room to run around. i will add that just as we were about to leave we caught a 26' rockfish....had to let him go not time yet, but never caught one on squid before...my son had a fit i let him go but got some good pictures.....it is free to fish out there
