I would like some opinions on the best time of summer to fish for dolphin and/or tuna out of Wachapreague. I will be fishing primarily at the 21-mile hill and 26-mile hill. I am going to take a week of vacation to fish this summer. If there is not a best time for both species at the same time, my preference is for dolphin.

Thanks!

I have never fished either hill, but I would have to say July into August when water temps are warmer. For dolphin, you want the warmer water temps low 70's and up. Tuna may show up earlier...upper 60's. Send a PMail to "Knothead"...he fishes offshore out of Willis Wharf all summer and has fished those spots, so he might be able to shed some better light on this.

Catch 'em Up!!

School sized bluefin and some kings were on the hills last summer from late june to early july. The dolphin are more likely to be there later, when the water is warmer. Every year is a little different though.
Good luck,
Bill
