There is a boat ramp at Gosnold Hope park in Hampton, this is adjacent to Langley Air force base. I hear there is a Marina at the end of beach rd in hampton that sits in the same area. You can reach this same area if you walk clear down to the end of Grand View staete park ( where the funny guys who lay out and tan and always seem to be looking for someone

) , this is where this same location opens into the bay.
Is this area "Back bay".
Who has fished it, what biting out there. I've fished the end of grandview state park and cuagt cobia and shark from the shore. Seen some nice stripper caught off the beach as well. Is this a good area for flounder and trout?

Ok, went and got a ADC chart book. This area is marked as BACK RIVER and it shows that Wallaces bait and tackle is in the same area. Don't they have marinia or boat ramp there also? it the inlet that separates hampton from poquoson.
Grand view state park is one the southern end and plum tree island wild life refuge is on the northeren end. Any body fish this inlet, what kind of pullage is it good for.
Some you guys know my boat about big enough for extreme inshore so I'm gonna do some exploring.

The area you're talking about is called Back River. The creek where the ramp is at Gosnolds Hope Park dumps into Back River. There are two marinas near the end of Beach Rd. Before you get to Grandview, turn left on Dandy Point Rd. Bells Island Marina is on the right before you get to the end of Dandy Point Rd. (turn right onto Bells Island Dr. and follow it to the end). The other is Wallace's Marina. It's at the very end of Dandy Point Rd.
At times, the flounder fishing in Back River can be very good. Also, Back River Reef is about 4 miles out from the mouth of Back River. If you do launch at Gosnolds, be careful! The water can be very shallow outside of the channels.
Hope this helps...

I'm in a 14 foot monarch, I ain't got the stones to take it out 4 miles ( yet). That what I mean when I say I do extreme inshore. The guy I bought the boat from said he used to do it all the time. However flounder in back bay sounds like its right up my ally. I think I heard you can get some trout out fo there also.
Any tips on where in that area would be appreciated?
Thanks

Wallace's marina is at the end of Dandy Point Road, which is off Beach Road. Take Fox Hill Road to left on Beach Road and then out almost to the end. Dandy Point Road takes you out to the ramp area. There is good Flounder, Croaker, Striper (when in season) and Tog fishing just off of the mouth of the river and up just inside the mouth of the river for Flounder. Back River reef is just a few miles (About 2 1/2) northeast of the mouth--65 degrees will do it. In late May and then thru July, the Cobia fishing is hot in this area.
Hope this helps.

Wallaces is great, The ramp there is pretty nice. I have a 25' Walk and have no trouble getting in and out. Took the kids out there yesterday. Too windy to head out but we anchored just inside in the Channel and loaded up on Croakers. Is that the mouth of the "Back River" were the Channel runs in there from the Bay? Anyways, the kids had a great time, made some new friends at the dock when we got back and saw an AWESOME air show from Langley while we were out there. A few other boats tried to get out to b ut ended up following our lead on the Croaker bite. Same an 18" Flounder taken from there.

Just to clarify a few, You are corect the chart shows it as Back Bay when you get
up around Langly AFB. The ramp is a public ramp (Free) that is beside Wallaces
marina. The marina is under new management and she is very good about being there early and should be able to take care of any of your fishing needs.
Directions below are to Bell Isle just keep going straight instead of making the right turn into marina. (I modified them) The waters are calm and do-able in most weather conditions for your size boat if you stay inside. You have Flounder fishing off the point and Pocosum flats and if you pick your days the Back River Reef is within reach.
Hope this helps
