well - if the weather cooperates, i have a crew lined up on the woody too, and we are headed down y'alls way and plan on spending the night down off fisherman's island friday night. we are planning on leaving gwynn's island around 4pm friday, and kitchen pass is secured from momma until noon saturday.

i'll be on the woody too, 25 parker sport cabin, more than likely 72, because i cant handle the 68 chatter.

anyone else? - cheers - bo

Sarurday sw 10kt waves 2-3 turning to the SE @10 waves 2-3, Am i wrong in thinking Latamer Shoal for drum? Anchored in 2 to 3 all night in my boat is a little rough but with the wind out of the SE and being on latamer shoal, with the wind break of hte eastern shore it should be good. Right?

I aint sure bout nothing right now.
Angler Management
I'll be pulling to boat down Saturday to drift for some Flounder then out on the shoals at night soaking drum baits. Shout at me on 68 or 72!

well, i have to report that i am the worst bay fisherman in the fleet! so i am definately going to need allot of help from you guys!

we went out friday night right when the wind started to kick up. so we ended up beating our way all the way down south to the CBBT, and decided to hide behind fishermans island and anchored on the IMG at around 8:00 or so. I had one hell of a time getting the anchor to stick out there in the wind and current and ended up paying all of my line out, and we still were dragging around all over the place! I have about 15 foot of chain on the thing now ... and it is a large danforth so i thought i would be fine. i figure i should up the size on it a bit and probably go to 30 foot or so of rode. - what are you guys using? and do you get dragged around out there? It made me nervouse when there are a bunch of other boats around and it is at night.

back to the story ... nothing but skates, rays and sharks all night. I had frozen chum up top and bottom, and had peelers, hard crab and cut croaker out. we heard on the radio about folks doing quite well out on the ocean side, but saw and heard nothing around us all night.

When we i woke up in the morning, it was beautiful. we fished off kiptopeak, and 36a on our way back up the bay. what a parking lot out there! all i saw was close to 100 boats at 36a doing what we were ... not catching fish!

so long story short, it was a bust of a trip ... but got to spend allot of bonding time with the boat ... and the beer cooler took a big dent too!

KICKNBASS
I have a small boat so i usually never have a problem holding, but my buddy has a 38ft Boston Whaler that they were having problems anchoring. I found out their problem. (Not saying that its the same as yours) But they were dropping the anchor and just allowing the boat to drop back. When I anchored it I anchored the same way i did when working on the head boats. Drop the anchor, let out about 10-15' after hitting bottom and work it in. Allow the rope to slide through your hands and stop it every 5-10" for a split second. THe danforth will dig itself in every time you stop it. When the anchor tries to snatch your ass off the boat your in. Let out another 15' and tie it off. I'm sure you already know how to anchor your boat but every little bit helps.

Took my buddy out for a full day saturday. I was working overtime to keep fish off and bait on this rookies hooks all day. Started off with two dozen or so trout but with the largest ones being barely legal it was a catch and release effort only. Didn't do squat on flounder like I hoped, but iced down some horse croaker for our efforts. Then we set up below 13 and started bailing critters. Mostly dogfish and clearnoses but a few rays got my buddy some pullage anyway. Moved to the other side for the tide change and got ate up with sharks one right after the other. Winds picked up and so did we. Ran to the middle ground and had to put out storm scope to handle that chop. No problems getting the hook down, up was the chore. Patience was finally rewarded and we boated two blacks, not bragging size but we got em, the largest went 30in. Somebody just showing up had seen our excitement and decided to circle us a few times to get a good look (in the dark), came right across the bow throwing a nice wake, then set up a little too close twice before finding a spot. That shut down even the critter bite so we packed it up. Somebody in about a 23 ft Grady had just picked up for little creek so I let them knock down the chop for us for a few miles which made me feel better about not having the stern light we broke, thanks. South of thimble shoals channel it was like glass. bath.gif
