We pulled a 24 Carolina Skiff to the bay on Friday. On the water that evening we set up by the headboat "Miss Jennifer". It was a bit slappy in the skiff but not unreasonable. The wind was blowing and the tide was screaming. We had 2 runs right off the bat. One dropped the bait and never came back. The other turned out to be a very large Cow-nosed ray. I got a nice run after that but my new braid was a little loose and not very forgiving when it cut into itself by the side of the spool. It was me against a very big green fish. I lost. I did pick up a 31 incher after that. Saturday evening we were back at it. We hooked up 8 times. Seven came to the boat. At one point we had a double that ended up being a 41 incher and a 49 incher. The guy with the big one was a first timer to the bay. He also caught a 44 inch fish. These were all blacks and caught on clams or clam/peeler combo. We caught a few dogfish and skates but the strong tides kept most of these guys at bay. It was a great weekend and we topped it off by seeing a Bald Eagle sitting in a tree by Fisherman's Island on the way back over the CBBT. We'll be back next Friday. Have a great week.
