Talk about pushing the limits of a boat!! Went out on my buddy Neal's boat, Wired Up out of sheer determination to fish. Just he and I , the rest of the crew backed out last minute. We were met at the inlet by breakers...took one on the bow of the 42 footer..not fun. Made our way slowly to the Rock Pile and found a good temp break. Set out spread in 4-7 foot confused seas. Trolled out to the 100 fathom line and then back into the Rock Pile as seas picked up. Had first hit at noon, but didn't stick. At 12:30 got our fist yellowfin in a while, little football, in 180' of water just inside the Rock Pile. About 20 minutes later the left long goes screaming. I'm holding the rod watching line disappear. It finally stops, gain some line and then another short run. After the second run it comes to the surface and I bring in my fisrt wahoo!! Measured 44 inches and went close to 20 pounds. Decided to come home after we took a wave over the side of the boat and all over me...now I know what coaches feel like when the players dump coolers of water on them!! Seas were a good 7-9 with some bigger stuff mixed in. Saw a frieghter out there that was taking spray over the bow on occassion.
Enjoyable ride home at 14 knots and waves knocking the boat around. Had the pleasure of surfing a wave in the inlet...still not fun in a big boat!! Got back cleaned up and then ate some of the days catch.
There were several billfish( blues, whites and a sail) caught, and some good dolphin. Guys are still looking for those tuna.
Here's a couple of pics.

Hope to be down there this coming weekend for the final weekend out of Hatteras!!
Catch 'em Up!!
