I'm just now getting into cobia fishing and want to know what kind of hooks,leaders, and rigs i should be using. I am also open to any tips for catching them such as live bait or cut bait fishing top or bottom. I have 3 penn 320's spooled with 50lb mono and a shimano stradic 8000 spooled with 50lb power pro. Let me know what kind of rigs you guys use and how you have the best luck catching them.

live eel/ peeler right next to the chumpot on the bottom with a fishfinder rig. live bait on top under a float in the slick. cut baits/ live baits on fishfinders all around. i use j hooks. keep a bucktail ready for any u see on top in the slick.

are fishfinder rigs similar to bottom rigs, i kind of have an idea of what they are but do you guys make them or buy them. What size J hooks do you use? What kind of float do you use for the top (i've heard of people using balloons but what else works? As far as cut bait do you just cut like a croaker in half and use that of do you cut strips like for flounder. Sorry for all the questions, just not real familiar with cobia fishing.
