lucky strike
We started off in the Canyon at 0715 and as we pulled between the lobster pots, a crazy blue tried to eat the spreader bar. No luck hooking him with all that, but we thought there'd be fish there. Gave up around 1100 and ran to Waynes's World. We picked up several gaffers, but couldn't stand the bluefish.
Started trolling toward the east. Raised a white and after 2 tries, he gave up.
I was in the tower and saw another hammerhead shark. As we trolled past, I saw a number of dark fish, but couldn't tell what they were. GUes what,
Wam, we're covered up. I scambled down and got the last rod which is really taking line. I couldn't believe this fish kept going and going. We got the 4th in the boat and stopped the boat. I was finally able to gain line. I just knew this was the citation tuna I'd wanted! Strange though, as it got near the boat, some fight, but no head shaking or final strong run? When we finally saw the fish, it was hooked in the back and came corkscrewing in!
It was about a 15# fish and had whipped me on a 50! action-smiley-025.gif Still a great day after a slow start. : We ended up with 6 gaffers and 4 yellowfin, not to mention the bluefish. Beautiful day in the ocean. action-smiley-033.gif

Great work Randy! Sometimes ya just got to work through the bluefish and hope you don't loose tackle, or that wire doesn't scare off your target fish. Last week we had a BFT take a rappala lure with a wire leader to keep the blues off the meat. So who knows. Take care.
Tight lines.

Looks like you saw a variety of fish. Next time on the marlin. I cant wait to get one. Maybe at the bluewater classic.
