Okay...We leave out of Little Creek and head for the Hot Dog. Seas are rolling in a nice swell...no chop. Do Some highspeed trolling over the Hot Dog and then slow down to put out the regular spread...no takers. Pick up and run to the 10 fathom Lump and it looks real fishy. Set the spread and there's a boil behind the green machine in the shoutgun...no fish, but he wanted it so bad he came back for it and nailed it. Owen fights the fish after is dumps some line off the 30 and we boat a 36 inch Bluefin.
Troll towards the weahter bouy and into deeper water and find thae weeds that were scattered the other day and casuing havoc are now formed into a big weed line. Troll up the line and start picking off dolphin in about 50 fathoms. Got a couple of bailers and a few couple of gaffers and Ray's personal biggest bull dolphin to date and Owen's first gaff shot. Both guys did a great job fighting the fish and Owen's gaff shot right behind the head!! Dave even got into the action one time when we had 3 dolphin on at once!!
Turned and started to troll south and we are all talking and I look back at the left short to see these set of shoulders come up out of the water and a bill swat at the the bait. I yell, "Blue Marlin" and jump to the pit....(I hope I didn't knock any of you guys over)... He goes away for a second and I'm holding the rod waiting to see if he coimes back and there he is again, pushing a wake and broomsticking with his bill. I try to drop back the dink bait, he takes it for a second and then lets go!!! He was hitting on a GRL Purple and Black Shooter over a medium ballyhoo in the favorite short position. That's 2 blue marlin in as many weeks...3rd times the charm!!!
Ran back home and it got a little snotty inside the CLT, but it was beautiful on the water today!!! Heard the yellowfin were caught in Wayne's World...guys got limits...and some big bluefin caught on the 21 fathom Finger.
Great trip, great Capt and crew!! Ray and Owen thanks for helping in the pit...you did a great job!!
