I've seen some rather large tigers caught near sandbridge beach before i believe the state record was caught in that area

, also some small hammer heads.

i would say you want to put a little water under you. tower reef, triangle wrecks, the hanks or the ricks would be areas to consider. we went on a shark charter ... good lord probably 10 years ago or so ... and fished the hanks. no hookups but had a nice run with a big tiger, and also had a sniff from a hammerhead there. that was my only time i really spent fishing for them.
there used to be a club ... virginia beach sharkers ... are they still around?

There have been quite a few very large (up to 105") sand tigers caught off the beach at Cape Point in Hatteras this year. I don't know if you can get them in water that skinny in VA or not, but I'd bet they're around closer than you'd think.

There was a 6 1/2 ft. (either sandbar or bull shark) caught off the pier at the LIP the other day. It went about 150 lbs I'm told.
