Flounder
Saturday was supposed to be just a short bait-catching day. We planned on just a few hours catching live bait for flounder and amberjack. We couldn’t resist sneaking out to the flounder hole with our smaller baits during the tide change. It was a quick stop, but rewarded us with some nice flounder, with the biggest weighing in at 8-pounds...another citation! We dropped small live bait over structure on a bare 3-way rig, with 20-pound Yo-zuri fluorocarbon leader.
Amberjack
Sunday, we left the dock at 4:30 am headed for the South Tower. The weather was beautiful; with calm winds and a high temperature of about 83 degrees…perfect amberjack weather! No one was at the tower, and the jacks were hungry. The water was so clear we could see amberjack about 40 feet down. They were amazing, pods of huge amberjack lazily swarmed behind the boat wherever we went, just like the piped piper. We never lost a single rig or jack in the tower. After a dozen nice amberjack, we were ready to head in. The largest measured in at 56-inches. It was a gorgeous day spent playing with the mighty king of all wrecks..
