I just moved here from FL, where I did a lot of fishing, I have a 31' Fountain set up for fishing and am lookin' to head out and catch some Flounder this weekend. I would like to fish around the (CBBT) but this will be my 1st time heading out there as I am new to the area. Any tips would be GREAT on spots to fish and what not..........

Thanks in advance

drift over the tunnels of the CBBT with squid or live spot or croaker or gungeons. Running tidal current is best time.

Welcome to the board! Depending on where you put in, you can also cast net or bottom fish in close to catch bunker and small croaker (respectively). The flounder love 3-5 Croaker and Spot. Drift em over the 1st/2nd or 3rd/4th tunnels. Be sure you have enough weight to hold bottom or your chances will be slim.
Good Luck and Keep em tight.

Thanks for the reply's fella's yourock.gif , Im gonna be putting in at a ramp called "peterson's" in downtown Newport news, I put in there last weekend just for some joy ridin' and shot over to the eastern shore to some tiki bar (it was a good time food-smiley-004.gif ) ....let me ask ya how heavy of a weight do you think i'll need?

Depends what kind of line you are using, mono vs braided, current speed, wind, depth, etc. I use POwerPro 15 and 20 lb test and I am usually able to hold bottom with between 2-8 oz depending on the conditions. Mono of course you will need more weight due to the increased drag. I usually use either cut bait (tube squid or bluefish 6-8" strips) or live spot or menhaden when I can catch some. I have had the most success on the ebb tide. Good luck and welcome to the board.
EARLYTIMES
Just my opinion, but this full moon has put a damper on the flatties. Best of luck to you this weekend.

i was there two weekends ago. i dont have exact directions but its about half way between the concrete ships and the base of the CBBT. The bar isnt anything special, save your money and byob, but the beach is nice and there were a lot of people out there when i was there. good times, its worth checking out.
