just wondering what is good besides fishing on land for sea sickness my spouse gets sick every time we go out on boat. He has tried almost everything .

Have you tried one of those prescription patches that you put behind your ear that will not prevent sea sickness??? Try some of the patches. But of course it is a prescription, so check to make sure before buying any of the patches. They really do work, a while back when I first went offshore I put one on and didn't feel sick at all and the sea's were 4-5ft that day. You put the patch on before you go to sleep and you leave it on that next day you go fishing. You shouldn't have a problem unless you have already tried that. Hope I could help.

Just tell him to puke ! Dramamine makes you sleepy, and is usually the first thing to come up. If you feel sick.... let it fly, you feel better and then you start drinking again. Tell him to keep his eye on the horizon and try to look forward. the more time he spends on the boat the better he will get.

I'm with Jeff, he needs to keep looking at the horizon. Also have found eating ginger snaps or drinking ginger ale helps. Something in the ginger aspect that settles the stomach.

Different remidies work for different people. My brother gets sea sick, the only times he doesn't is when he takes Triptone. Triptone is hard to find, sometimes you have to order it. Dramamine, the patch, the wrist bands don't work for him, ginger pills don't work either. You need to find out what works and what doesn't, it might be trial and error but eventually it will work.

Potassium. Eat 2 bananas before leaving the dock. Don't carry on board if superstitious. Cruise lines feed banana soup in rough seas. It works every time The ginger thing is good after leaving the dock if some nausea sets in.

Let him Drive the boat,and put an eye patch on one eye like Capt. Fat Beard does.If that doesent work look through some Binoculars and get it over with.

Doctors often prescribe "antivert" for vertigo, which is what causes seasickness. The over the counter name, generic is meclazine hydorchloride, (I think the spelling is correct) and is a lot cheaper to purchase under that name. It is the same as Bonine. The secret is to take one pill at night before bed, and one first thing in the morning when you get up. It helps not to load up on food and alcohol the night before!

25 mg meclizine the night before and 25 mg an hour before you leave the dock. the drug is designed for vertigo, inner ear/ balance issues. it will not cause drowseyness and you can go i hte cabin and unclog the toilet is 4 to 6 foot slop and not get sick.

Triptone is a pill like Dramamine, but less drowsy and works better in my opinion even though i've never been sick, just watching others.

Eat sardines and then go cobia fishing. You'll have a great chum slick going in no time.

Actually Ive never been sea sick, I get sleepy if Im tossing around for a few days, but sleep like a baby.

I had a special forces guy on my boat a few weeks ago, he was letting it rip.

outside of that Bonine not bad, doesnt get you as sleepy as Dramamine

I use the patch, called "Transderm" and it works like a charm. I do not fly or go on a boat without it. I have no side effects with it. My son doesn't like the patch. Says it makes him feel wierd. He takes a benedryl the night before and that has been working great for him. As some of the rest have said, you just have to keep trying things until you find the right one. Good luck. That has to be one of the worst feelings in this world.

I have only came close one time and that sucked but a guy I take out on my boat just started to get it and he jumps in makes change colors back instint. Another guy takes bonine says thats the trick I know if near the bridge espcialy in the winter striper fishing stare at the pilions nothing worse getting that feeling in the dark with a 12mi ride back. Tell to try and burb and fart a lot on the way out to keep is stomach from bubling up

The only real thing you can take to help with seasickness is a bigger boat...
Really,though, I fish almost exclusivly with Doctors and they say THE ONLY thing that works all the time and works once the seasickness has started is Vistaril. It is a light calming and pain reliever med that you can get your doc to write a prescription for. VERY CHEAP!..Sometimes carrying something like this will prevent seasickness because YOU KNOW IT IS THERE IF YOU NEED IT! So you don't think about it,which is Numero Uno in preventing seasickness. Also,almost NO SIDEEFFECTS<except it calms ya down,which most of youse guys needs anyway!!!
