We (Shawn, Pete, and I ) left Oregon Inlet about 545am yesterday (7/18), headed east toward the hump but stopped early at about the 37 mile area and trolled a while there but nothing. We saw boats a ways off so decided to go to that area and join the "fleet". Our spread of four rods was only in about 5 minutes when the green machine had a hook up, about 30 minutes later we had a white marlin next to the boat. We got everything straghtened out and the lines back int the water and booom off goes a blue and white daisy chain w/ballyhoo made by Don @ Get Reeel Lures, a nice 35 lb yellow fin tuna. Later dolphin. Then a smooth ride home with happy tired & tanned faces.

Great work Owen and Crew! You'll have to add a Tag Stick to your arsenal along with some Billfish Foundation tags!!! Now you know firsthand what beautiful and special animals these are, and that we must work to protect them so our kids kids can have the samr thrill. See ya Friday night, and more stories I hope.

I gotta tell everyone though...I get a call last night at 10:30. I'm half asleep and get the phone and hear, "I caught a white Marlin!!". Its Owen as excited as a little kid. It was classic!! Needless to say that woke me up pretty fast and I enjoyed hearing him tell the story. Never too late to hear a story like that!!!
