Full Version: where do we catch stone crabs?

hey guys...anyone knows where to catch them stone crabs at? they almost like fiddlers but withought the big claws and about the same size..i'm still new at fishing and would like to catch my own bait as much as possible and i also notice that they don't sell it at the bait store...any help would be much helpful and appriciated ...thanks everyone

there's alot of small stones crabs around because i caught alot in Chincoteague just don't want to drive 2 1/2 hrs to catch those little stone crabs for bait..the other guy catch alot around va beach but he wouldn't really want to tell me where exactly it is.

Interesting. I've seen alot of different crabs here, but not one of those.

yea...they look just like the fiddlers crab but without the big claw...same size too

you might be talking about sandfiddlers? real light color, and faster than hell on the beach? sandbridge is loaded with those, i never had much luck on em though.

Stone crabs are large and they serve them in resturants .......

Uhm I think you can catch alot of them in the keys. They are really good, they only serve the claw which they pinch off and release the crab alive. I did'nt know we had stone crabs here? Probably some other type of crab because they would have strict regulations on them little critters.

There's green crabs under the rocks at rudy beside the loop. Some people call them stone crabs. You can get them at low tide. Wear gloves 'cause those oyster shells are sharp.

there is a difference between stone crabs and green crabs. Two different species.
Killamonk...i will tell you where you can catch them close to where you live. come to the spot on sunday.

ahhh.....for a minute there i was going crazy...lol...yea i think they're green crabs then because the other guy said their stone crabs and they doo look like a baby version of them...so u want to meet up at the pier chae or what spot are you talking about? so is your name chae, or that's just a sn? my real name's glenn

I lived on broadbay when I was a kid and remember them being caught under the Great Neck bridges.

Everytime i have caught crabs..It has been in Ocean view, Usually at the thirsty camel, or greenies. I don't know how they taste..But they sure are itchy!!! costumed-smiley-089.gif
