I've had a pretty rough go of it this year with surf fishing. I usually fish at the Lynnhaven Inlet but I've also tried the Great Neck Rd. bridge, Broad Bay, 85th Steet and Chix Beach. I haven't caught anything but some small blues and a couple of undersized flounder. Does anyone know any good places on the north side of VA Beach? Is it my imagination or is surf fishing in the bay dead this year?

Just be patient. The water temps. need to drop some for action to pick up. October-December around the Lesner is great at night. Stripers and specks are the best bet and the later you go, the better.

In the summer heat on the bay surf, I have my best luck late at night while the tide goes out. I almost always catch a wide variety.

And Fishist is right. Just wait and see.

Pulled a small striper ( 17" )onto the beach last night under the lesner bridge, the guys next to me pulled one a bit bigger then mine about 15 minutes later. Best I've done in the surf this year. Can't wait to go again, maybe hit it after school tonight

Was using squid on a bottom rig, nothing fancy

go down to false cape and look in the surf for red fish
