Thanks Owen, Pretty funny thing, one of them doesn't want to touch any fish. I think he's going just for the boat ride. One of the others stated he would hit him with a peanut mahi, I'll try to get that on video.

Otter, just remember one thing. If you're taking out four of Suffolk's finest, you have to BRING BACK four of Suffolk's finest. None of that walking the plank crap you and Bob like to play on the rookies!

Tight lines and catch 'em up!

We (Myself, Trey “ReelTherapy”, and Jay “DamnYankie”) left Rudee around first light, and had a slightly bumpy ride out with lots of chop until we were on the other side other Hot Dog. Fished around the 200 line southward along 40-50 fathoms, had water temp to 79 degrees ( 77.5-79 ) and good looking water. Found a decent sized board and bailed two Mahi, then we got into a line of boards just east of the weather buoy, but it all looked like new wood with very little fish on them. There was a ton of wood out there; I would not want to run thru it at night!! Later we also passed about a case of Amstel Light beer floating around so we tried catching them with a little more success, I’m sorry to report the beer was no good. We found a larger older piling and caught a few more Mahi, this time on light tackle and had a blast. Later we ran to the Hot Dog where we hooked up with two good False Albacores. No billfish for us, the reports were kinda spotty mostly to the south of us. Fun was had by all.

Good job Mike....we only ended up with those Fat Alberts, One Wahoo run/bite off and a couple of tiny tiny tiny Dolphin that were too small to get a hook in em...
TIP TIP TIP Alert....if you get pulled over in Suffolk for speeding by a Suffold PD officer and he's a big Italian guy with a long last name...threaten to take him offshore in rough seas and he'll let you go...he has a tendancy to have a delicate tummy in a slight roll.....lol.....Bob

We Ran out of Lynnheaven at 3:45 AM after we got out past the Lume from the beach it was black dark, good thing I have electronics. We stopped at the WX Buoy but I guess it was too early for the Dolphin got a B Jack and started trolling East with Light Dink rigs on 80 lb leaders. .We got covered up with Dolphin before I got my 6th bait in the water.I then had to re rigg all the baits and again got covered up this was pretty much the story for the day. Then at about 145 pm I looked down at the Dredge and saw a large White he went over and Nailed the Pink Bird Bar with a Pink Islander. I set the Hook and Jason came off the helm for him.The other passenger grabbed a second rod that was smoking and locked down the drag and the fish spit the hook,I grabbed the rod and dropped it back and the fish swiped it again but I failed to hook it.Then I look down and there is a 3rd fish .I had 2 50`s in the mix of TLD`s I should have used 100lb leader behind the bird 80 was too light, that fish should have been ours,oh well Id rather do that than never see one.

Mike:
Thanks for a great day on Saturday! Nice to finally meet you and spend a day offshore with you and Trey. I had an absolute blast with you guys. Bailing those mahi on ultralight tackle was some of the best bluewater fun I've ever had! The water was so clear and calm; it was a blast watchin' 'em school around 20' below us and then race after a crankbait!! Great fun.
I noticed that you didn't mention trolling past the fat little wahoo hiding under one of those logs that just watched all the bait go by! I bet if we had one of those Amstels in the spread he would've come out of hiding!! I'm pretty sure that the one I retrived had a bite taken out of it....

That would be some good tastin' hoo! Definitely a first (and hopefully a last) for me, seeing a hoo that wasn't so much as moving!
Let's try and hook up again around Thanksgiving for some stripers!
Wish me luck in court tomorrow!
Note:
DO NOT SPEED ON THE CBBT!!Thanks again to you both. Keep catchin' 'em up fellas!
-Jay
PS: If someone can tell me how to load the photos, I'll post 'em!

Keith, I know you and Don are used to catching everything you see, but to the rest of us mere mortals just seeing 3 billfish in a day is a great day!

Jay if you need bail money, call Trey!!!

Good luck!!
Mega, Sorry to hear no releases. I wonder if its better to not see fish or to see them and not get 'em...I'm leaning towards seeing and not getting. We'll still have time to get those bills!!

Dont get me wrong it was way cool.I was fishing a new way(to me) to rig Ballyhoo.I need to get used to the way the Whites just gulp the hoos down. Less drop back quicker hook set. When they miss ,longer drop back and hard second strike.I guess Im" Still Thinking" about what I did wrong. The new Dredge also helped my boat raise fish better we even fished a different speed on Sunday. It was Fun but bitter sweet. Oh yea,Marlin I heard you are a Warlock yourself.

Thanks for the reports guys. Sounds like some fun action. I had the in-laws in town and was relegated to cruising around Lynnhaven.
Looks like this weekend will be a blow out but I'm hoping it clears out in time for Monday maybe?

Keith,
Great report and sounds like fun. We learn something different from these fish every outting. Having a dredge working below is an exciting tool to draw them in. Did you put one together yourself or go commercial? Have heard different reports on types, from Hoo to Shad to Squid. What ya think?
Tight lines.
