Rough few days for the tournament....day one we get at least 4 White Marlin in the spread and either pull the hook or don't hook up on all of them. Get a really big Blue Marlin on also day one and broke the leader...frustrating...

Day 2 we're fishing with the fleet again....we're running next to Purser who boats 7 Whites right next to us...we don't even get a fish in the spread....wow....unreal....

Billfish division winner was purser with 630 points (9 billfish)

Dolphin..and get this....10.6 pounds !......that was over a 7000 dollar dolphin...

Wahoo something like 40 pounds

Tuna ....56 Pounds....

Took Suffolks finest out on my boat on Saturday...these guys have never been offshore before.....lines in and immediately three rods go down hard...alright I'm thinking finally some YFT.....we give the rods to three of the cops and they fightem to the boat.....turns out to be three False Albacore....

OK...I'm gonna go ahead and head to the Canyon and see what's going on..figure we'll at least pull some Mahi off the pots....well the Tooney Boat is there working the pots yesterday so all the dolphin are not around the pots. First time I've ever seen them actually pulling pots up....

Troll through a huge pod of porpoise for about an hour and don't get a single knockdown......

Pull lines and head back to the fingers to get the guys back on the bonita....on the way we run over another pod of dolphin with some whales mixed in....lines out and work them for about an hour...nothing...fished some boards on the way in and nothing under the boards yesterday either....we chunked them for a good half hour...

From what I hear Rock'n Robin has some good bailers east of the Cigar yesterday....

we had out 4 spreader bars, danglers, islanders, sea witches, naked hoo, planer rods ( not all at the same time of course) and couldn't buy a bite....Oh yea...we did have one Wahoo bite early but came off......I heard of a couple of YFT caught mixed in with the bonita but that was it.......

Hopefully September is a better month for the Tuna bite.....Bob

Purser? Is that Ray Temple? C.O. Alexander and I were Ray's guest in Mexico many years ago, fished with him, his son's and Don White. Killed the Sails!

Yup...Ray Temple...he caught 2 sails (along with 5 other fish) on Friday....he was HOT HOT HOT man.....Bob

Actually...he caught 9 White Marlin..no Sails...there were several sailfish caught yesterday.....and that was Pursuer's lay-day...Bob

Congrrats to those guys!! Its funny though that second place took home $109,000 and first took home $78,000...they didn't enter all the levels.

Bob...missed a great prime rib dinner last night!!!

I tell you what guys, Ray Temple and crew are the best. I had the privilege of having Ray Captain and Don White mate in Mexico. You put Don White and Ray together and you got one heck of a crew. Ray's been doing it right for a Loooooong time!!! Congratulations!!

Don...after we got done cleaning the boat and having a couple of beers, we ran down there at about 9PM, the cops stopped us at the entrance and told us we had to park at a satellite area.....screw that...too tired after 3 straight days of fishing...came home and had a few more beers and then slepts for 10 hours ..lol...most I've slept in a long time...

Tony...yea, those guys were on fire man.....they were reporting fish after fish on the radio....they went 7 for 10 day 2, and had 2 whites on day one...incredible...bob

If you ever get a chance have Ray show you how he rigs for sails and whites. He's the master. They use lighter tackle and hook up more often.
