BillableOurs started making some fast passes over the 10 fathom Lump to see if any Hoo might be around. Gypsy was there and report some slow action with False Albies. While temps were down from last week following the storm, water was green everywhere we went. We then pull out the full spread and worked east of Cigar and worked south along 5o fathoms and the drop off. Very slow but heard reports of Mahi action and a few WM further north. East of the Wx Bouy we found the organized weed patches and stopped to bail dolphin. As many peanuts as you wanted, with swarming fish coming off the weeds to chunking and lures. Don't run close to those weeds with your White spread unless you want to re-rig more hoo.
Reports of some WM and a Blue or two came from the same areas that were hot before the storm. I think conditions still need a few days to re-organize and give us the nice blue water and fish concentrations.
Had a blast with the Mahi.

We did have a great time. Thanks go out to Dave and Pat for hosting us on their boat...you are very generous. Anytime you trash you clothes because of all the blood, it was a great trip. Don, thanks for the lessons on the way back...I have already started practicing a few of the knots.

How far do you have to go out to find dolphin and false albies we have 27ft W/A Proline I know we would probably have to pick our days i have never been offshore and would love to try it.Any info would be greatly appreciated and if anyone needs a Ho for a day E-Mail me @ bmccs7@hotmail.com shark.gif

Plenty of people go out that far in boats such as yours. The key is to find out who is going to be out there and make contact before and during your time out there (safety in numbers. It also helps to have contacts because you can cover a lot more ground. A prime example is Bob (Bobdu11) and Neil (Wired Up). They got into some fish and let us know so we could get into them too. The Dolphin can be anywhere from just outside CLT to 90 miles out and beyond (depending on food supply and water conditions). Read the reports and team up with others from the site and get out there, your boat should have no problems going out there.

It was a great time yesterday! Nice to meet some more board members as well. Having been lurking here since early 2005...it's nice to finally meet some people and put names to faces. smile.gif

That's great advice from Brett. Sometimes we see some organized weedlines or patches on the run out, short of where we want to start to target other fish. If you're within radio range we'd be glad to help. Best bet is to get a few boats that you can talk with and work towards an area, excxhange info. If you have good communications to keep it safe you can fish further. Bigger boats can alert you to conditions further out, you can get help if you need it, etc. Good luck, watch the Board.
